(Left stone in the photograph). This is a founder stone. The original location of the stone is unrecorded, and the name John Peart appears neither on the Brailsford 1781 survey, or appears in British Mining No. 46. There was a John Peart working as an attorney in Settle in 1790. Rastrick has a mention of a George Peart working with John Summersgill in 1771. It was to donated to Craven Museum by a lady from Leeds in 1987.
